Naked and Barefoot
This is from a series of woodcut prints which depict verses from Isaiah contemporized to our times. Isaiah addressed the issues of countries besieged by unbidden enemies, mass immigration, fear of an uncertain future and incursions by foreign nations. Today we also live in unstable times. Isaiah also heard a voice command him to communicate his message while naked and barefoot. In this print, Jerusalem's Old City is dotted with satellite dishes. Go Fish!
This work is featured as part of the 2017 Alumni Exhibition: “Ambiguities/Innuendoes? Go Fish.”, on view at the Stamps Gallery in Ann Arbor. Check the exhibition page for dates, times, and hours.
