FLAUNT IT. OWN IT. BE IT. A Looking Glass into a Mad World
I am creating a modernized dollhouse that serves as a response to the fantasized “Barbie dream house” structure and ideology, and how it ultimately skews female and male expectations of reality to something far from the truth. I have made five paper dolls juxtaposed with household objects transformed from symbols of weakness into strength in five plexiglass “rooms” that champion women in their natural habitat showing their allure, confidence, and stamina. The five rooms encompass a mad style that exaggerates the truth and realism within society. There is a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, closet/vanity room, and greenery room.
