Keith Ekstam: Figure Stack with Tea Bowl

Figure Stack with Tea Bowl

Keith Ekstam

My sculpture incorporates imagery that refers to a diverse range of items. These are as far reaching as children’s toys to weapons, architectural elements to geology to everyday mundane objects. I am always keeping my eyes open for artistic influences regardless where I am. Recent artist residencies in Europe, Taiwan- the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China have made great impact on my work. During these travels, I have procured various images including Chinese scholar rocks, temples and cathedrals, archaeologic sites and a variety of cultural and environmental images, among others.

This work is featured as part of the 2017 Alumni Exhibition: “Ambiguities/Innuendoes? Go Fish.”, on view at the Stamps Gallery in Ann Arbor. Check the exhibition page for dates, times, and hours.
