These artists explore the sacred essence of everyday themes by designing altarpieces with reimagined contexts. Artists in the show have used shrines to insert western ideas into Chinese socialism, to design a dream environment that encourages imaginative thought and protects from nightmares, and to fashion the forms that music takes (LPs, CDs and MP3s) into waves, levels, and vibrations. Through their edifices, themes of music and rebirth acquire a new significance in the modern world.
