Color and Materials Designer for Ford

April 27, 2015

Color and Materials Designers are tasked with setting the vision for the development and coordination of interior and exterior color and materials design for Ford and Lincoln vehicle programs.  Designers follow the development of color and materials from concept through approval and must coordinate the release of master samples.  Designers are expected to be able to evaluate color, texture, gloss and finishes and work with suppliers as necessary.  Designers are required to maintain an awareness of developments in related fields, i.e. furniture, fashion, architecture design, and apply that knowledge to automotive design.  Color and Materials Designer candidates must provide a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, a strong understanding of colors and materials, design and trend leadership, brand awareness, production experience, and multi-tasking ability.

At Studio 23/The Arts Center our team is passionate about creating positive experiences in the Great Lakes Bay Regional community through interactive art education, community outreach, support of artists, and exposure to the visual arts.

The ideal candidate will possess a sense of adventure and creativity with a sophisticated understanding of art, design, and gallery curatorial principals and practices. He/She would conduct original research, negotiate with artists, develop and present new exhibitions and projects, supervise, install, light and all related duties including maintenance such as ensuring that all walls are repaired. Produce publicity for Gallery exhibits with marketing. Represent the Gallery at public, and cultivation events in order to build bridges between the gallery and other art entities in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Communications Assistant (photo, video, design)

The person in this position works closely with the National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) staff through various communication efforts. Responsibilities include:

1. Work with the NCID staff to update the website, keeping it current on events, programs, and resources.
2. Create printed materials for programs and events.
3. Work on social media management and implement strategies to encourage engagement.
4. Determine how photography and video can be used to complement story-telling and promotion. Capture events through photography and video for use in various communication channels (social media, website, publications).
5. Additional responsibilities include general office support and assistance with special projects & events as needed.

Student must have demonstrated experience and expertise with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and other related programs. Student must be creative and have the ability to work independently on multiple projects. Web Design Internship with COE

The College of Engineering Office of Student Affairs is currently looking to hire one Web Design Intern to start work in May.

This is a paid position, the assignment for approximately 20 hours per week during the summer and will continue 5-10 hours per week during the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Web Design Intern will assess, reorganize and redesign office websites within Office of Student Affairs using the CoE Content Management System (CMS). This position will also design, build and deploy web content within the CoE CMS, including text, graphics, appointment scheduling and other content types as appropriate.

This position may also create graphic designs for special communication projects, as well as assist offices to maintain and enhance their social media presence.

Mural Artists Wanted

World of Beer, located on South U. is seeking painters for beer-themed murals!

With over 530 beers offered, World of Beer is looking for student artists to paint big murals of craft brewery logos and names around the bar! Student work will be featured on red brick walls, and is a great opportunity to be showcased in a local establishment. 

We will be considering multiple artists for the job with a variety of styles.

Compensation is negotiable.
