Photography Internship with Traverse Magaizne

MyNorth Media, publishers of Traverse Magazine is looking for summer interns. Join us in celebrating the beauty of Northern Michigan while gaining experience in editorial photography. Interns will spend time shooting and exploring areas like the trails at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, meandering through the crowds at Cherry Fest, and getting lost in downtown Frankfort.

This paid, part-time internship offers flexible hours with minimal time spent indoors. If you would like to apply, please send your resume and a portfolio demonstrating your photographic skills with 5-10 samples and to Art Director, Nicole Steffen at nsteffen@traversemagazine.com.

General Expectations:
  Show up for assignment meetings
  Understanding of how to compose and take photos with a DSLR camera
  Ability to edit photos for color, lighting and small imperfections
  Organize, tag, name and date all photos

  Growth through positive critique of photography.
  Learning how to work with shot lists, mood boards, tear-sheets, and photo direction.

NEW ART, NEW ARTISTS call for Artists

One of the special programs of the Original Ann Arbor Art Fair is our New Art, New Artists (NANA) College Student Mentoring Program. The goal of this program is to nurture young artists who wish to establish themselves in a professional visual arts career. After submitting work and being selected through a jury process, eight college artists are selected to participate in the Art Fair each year. We are proud to showcase the work of some of Michigan’s most talented college artists.

Stamps Peer Advisor

Do you love helping your fellow Stamps students, know a lot about the curriculum or better yet really good at searching for solutions to problems?

Then apply to be a Stamps Peer Advisor!

8 hours/week; $10/hr to start

Eligibility:

Student at Stamps
Must be available for training sessions, paid
Available for at least two semesters
Can work 6-8 hours a week
Available for summer orientation, July 6-Aug 4

Skills/Qualities Needed:

Researching answers to problems
Referring students to staff as needed
Must be available to work between hours of 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and 4:30pm to 6pm
Communicating policies and procedures to students
Recording student questions and issues, and communicating them to advising staff
Be a liaison between students and advising staff
Meeting regularly with advising staff
Objectivity and Discretion

Duties:

  Active engagement with undergraduate students regarding curriculum and opportunities at the University.
  Responsible for maintaining Office Hours four days weekly and staying informed about changing requirements and aiding students in the progression toward their degrees.
  Coordinating training of orientation leaders leading into the summer through the creation of training modules.
  Consulting with multiple professors, the UM Libraries and the Assistant and Associate Deans of the School regarding curriculum and resources updating.
  *PLUS* Overseeing undergraduate orientation sessions during the summer months. Adapting each one to different groups including freshmen, transfer and international students which increased my awareness and ability to anticipate the needs of different groups of students.

Internship with Leapfrog (Chicago)

Leapfrog Brands is seeking a versatile multimedia marketing intern to join the team of Industrial Designers, Engineers, and Marketing superstars in our West Loop Chicago studio.

Our multimedia internship will focus on creating a variety of video and digital media projects aimed at showcasing and promoting our three beverageware brands: Ello, ZULU and Pogo. Freelance Caricaturist

January 27, 2016

The College of Engineering is seeking a caricaturist for a CoE Faculty Reception.  This person will draw cartoon renderings of the faculty and guests in a one-on-one format during the event reception.  The caricaturist must be able to draw quickly and accurately, and be comfortable interacting with faculty and other guests during this celebratory evening.  The event will be on Saturday, March 26, 2016 and the reception will be from 5:30-6:30 PM.  Compensation will include $100 and the cost of paper.  To apply, please send resume and a link to portfolio to hemcken@umich.edu by February 15.

CultureSource Call for Student Photographers

CultureSource is currently developing a new website, which aims to visually represent the arts and cultural community in Southeast Michigan. To do so, we need a comprehensive selection of digital photographs that adequately represent the diversity of the arts in our seven-county region.  We are looking for student photographers to assist.

Locations and types of photographs to be determined in advance of shoot with CultureSource staff. 40-100 photographs per location. Photographs edited and submitted within one week of shoot via Dropbox or similar digital upload.
