Annual Center for Campus Involvement Juried Art Show

November 19, 2014

The Juried Art Competition is an annual art exhibit put on by the University of Michigan’s Center for Campus Involvement in mid-January in the Michigan League Hallway. Please note that you must be a current UM student at the undergraduate or graduate level to participate and are limited to one submission per student. Winner gets a cash prize and free month-long exhibit in the Union’s Art Lounge in March!

Submissions are due January 13, 2015, via our online form here
After completing the form, please email us with pictures of your work at juriedartexhibit@gmail.com (and email with any questions as well)!

There is limited space so please apply early! Work must be delivered to the CCI office in the Michigan Union by Friday, January 16, 2015.

Graphic Artist Internship (Paid)

National Geographic magazine is seeking a talented intern to assist with the production of art and information graphics. The intern will work closely with graphics editors while gaining insight into the development and production of graphics for the magazine and online.

$5000 Cartooning Scholarship

National Cartoonist Society Scholarship

The annual Jay Kennedy Scholarship, in memory of the late King Features editor, was funded by an initial $100,000 grant from the Hearst Foundation/King Features.  Submissions are adjudicated by a panel of top cartoonists and an award is given to the best college cartoonist. The recipient is feted at the annual NCS Reuben Awards Convention attended by many of the world’s leading cartoonists.

Call for Art: Outbreak

Now that gay marriage has erupted into mainstream…

• Is queerness losing it’s designation as a subculture?
• What if any, are the down sides of acceptance?
• Does queer art exist inside or outside the traditional
patriarchal and kyriarchical Art World?
• Are LGBTQA artists working in opposition to these
structures?
• Is there such a thing as a queer aesthetic?
• How does the LGBTQA (re)define family values?

All self identified LGBTQA artists residing in the United States and Canada are invited to submit works for consideration. Open all traditional and nontraditional visual arts media.
No Entry Fee.
The exhibition will be on display in the Sarah Silberman Gallery at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD from March 3 - April 3, 2015.

Internship in Archives Conservation at Bentley Historical Library

This department works on projects as they are presented; therefore the subjects vary each term.  Our goal will be to give you a general overview of conservation work and train you in as many skills as you can absorb. We will start you out with basic principles and observation of conservators doing their normal work, then add on as opportunities present themselves.  We will give you projects to practice the skills you are learning.  You will find that these skills are applicable in other areas of endeavor and life.  Staff members are Ann Ringia and Dianna Samuelson.

Internship for Winter Term at 1701 Bespoke

Do you love fashion?  Do you love photography?

1701 Bespoke is looking for a fashion photography intern that will be able to come into our shop in Detroit, once or twice a week, take pictures of some of the new garments that are made, what we’re wearing, as well as some lifestyle/candid shots.

At the end of the semester, we will provide a budget for a photo shoot for the intern to direct as they see fit for a catalog-esque shoot.
